How a piece is made

One ring, followed through every stage of its making: the paint-up, the technical drawing, the CAD model, the wax, the casting, the setting and the finished piece.

  1. The paint-up

    gouache

The sapphire ring as its gouache paint-up: the band in matte painted gold, the stone in painted blue.

  2. The technical drawing

    pencil

The same ring drawn to scale in pencil: every edge, prong and facet a workshop needs.

  3. The CAD model

    3D

The same ring as its CAD model, turned and checked on screen before any metal is cut.

  4. The wax

    carved

The same ring carved in green jeweller’s wax.

  5. The casting

    raw gold

The same ring as a raw, unpolished gold casting.

  6. The setting

    stones set

The same ring with its sapphire and baguettes set, the gold still satin before the final polish.

  7. The finished ring

    sapphire, gold, diamonds

The finished ring: an oval sapphire in yellow gold with baguette diamonds.

From a first sketch to a finished collection.

Each stage above is part of the Creative Atelier’s work, alongside jewellery design and gem sourcing.
